FRIES

KFC aren’t famous for their fries. And until November 2018, it was probably for good reason. One quick look online and you would’ve found more than a few complaints aimed squarely at their fries, perhaps best summed up by @upgrade_music, who tweeted earlier this year, “Dear KFC, No one likes your fries. Yours sincerely, The entire World.”

The good news is KFC have heard it loud and clear. And it’s why they’ve been developing new fries in the background.

The new chunkier, tastier, thicker fries proudly place real potatoes front and centre – as the whole spud is used and the skin left on for a natural, rustic appearance and incredible taste. Finally, KFC’s fries will be a worthy accompaniment to its iconic, Finger Lickin’ Good chicken.

To launch new the new fries, the ‘Ain’t No Small Fry’ campaign embraces the (soon-to-be-former) haters and provides an answer to their discontent in the form of new fries. In a media first, we put money to promote the most cutting and venomous and funny insults out there. Against the advice of Twitter.

At first some people were confused… had KFC made a monumental mistake? Even our regal nemesis, Burger King, chipped in.

After a while, some people started to notice the small print of tweet promotion and they couldn’t get enough of the hands up approach.

It was now time for the big reveal - new KFC Fries had arrived. Before long it was a media meltdown, becoming the most read story on the UK’s most read news source. We even out trended world events: US Mid Terms and Brexit.

No brand has ever paid to promote their haters… but we have news: it works. With over 500,000 Twitter engagements the campaign reached 30% of all UK Twitter users and the story was seen in the news by 25 million more.
